The Treehouse Studio is located on ocean facing Bowen Island acreage. The main studio was purpose-built from the ground up in 1996 to exacting THX specs, with design and construction overseen by legendary Vancouver studio tech John Vrtacic, who was the head tech at Little Mountain Sound and who has built studios for Bryan Adams, Bob Rock, and Metallica.
The studio takes a "best of both worlds" approach, using high end Class A analog electronics on input and output, combined with state of the art digital recording. This approach yields results as good as or better than a traditional all analog chain. 24 track 2 inch analog tape is also available. A 384 point balanced patch bay ensures that everything in the studio can be quickly and efficiently connected.
The main studio building houses the air conditioned control room, a large iso room, and a machine room. Two large rooms in the main house are connected by tie lines to the patchbay in the control room. One room houses the 6' 1" Yamaha C3 grand piano and is also used for drum or live ensemble tracking. The other contains the Hammond A100 and Leslie.
The studio has been updated with complete AVB digital audio network, allowing for individual monitor mixes for each station and hi-res multichannel recording via Ethernet. Two MOTU AVB switches distribute bidirectional multi-channel digital audio throughout the network, making every room in the studio building and house a potential monitoring destination and recording source.
